Hello my name is Virginia, and I am a painter, printmaker and for the last 15 years a tattooer. Along with my gorgeous 4-year-old son, Angus, this is our eclectic shop that is a tool to explore creativity as I home school. I am a widowed mum that has returned to college (a junior at SCAD) so the need for an extra income and to teach my son has given birth to FamiliarStrangers. Our shop will have a myriad of items as whim will be our muse and the wealth of imagination in this community will have influence on our work, hence our shop name.

In the spirit of community and goodwill, our very first item and at least one item a month will be a PIF (Pay It Forward) and free shipping on items that have the Angus’ Choice seal on the item’s image, so visit often for these and other specials.

I am very new to Etsy and this type of venue, so I am open to suggestions, ideas and any issues that may arise, so please just convo me at any time. I can also be reached at my other shop, VAndow at http://www.etsy.com/profile.php?user_id=7037541 which will be a shop solely for my painting, limited edition prints, and photographs.

Angus and I are very excited about our new venture and hope you will enjoy what we make with our 4 hands.

This is the first pair of earrings of the "Blood & Absinthe" line. They are called " Stop Blaming Eve" and will be on Etsy. They will also be the first of our jewelry that will be asymmetrical

Two new themes - "Night Circus" & " Blood & Absinthe" are slowly being introduced to our Etsy shop. Being an old Punk/Goth, the lingering resurgence of a myriad of forms of gothic expression have reignited my interest in the classic dark genre. Angus has already begun to gravitate to “scary” things, so it appears to be a natural direction to explore in designing what we do. The imagery to our creation will take a simpler classic approach to the noir style, influenced by my youth when Goth had first emerged in the late 20th century, and emulation of the Dandy; Teddy boy & Quaintrelle were popular. Movies such as the Hunger, Liquid Sky, Fearless Vampire Killers, Lair of the White Worm and Blade Runner had indelibly left their mark on the rebirth of this style in the late 1970’s thru the 1980’s and color was still a part of the scheme. So with that being said, the direction will have a strange colour palette with texture, spots and stripes in lieu of just the monotone grays, blacks, reds or violets. The concept is quaintly relative to a sideshow or circus. Our initial product will be jewelry that will eventually spill over to other items including clothing, prints and photographs. We hope that this will fill a niche that will amuse and bewilder at the same time, like a child’s first visit to the circus.
